Fossils!

Fossils are our record of the past and they allow us to reconstruct major events in evolution.
They allow us to rank animals according to when they first appeared and in some cases allow us to understand the evolution of a particular group.

But before going into that, let's try a simple "experiment".
Arrange the following groups of animals in evolutionary age - from the most recent to the most ancient.
Mammals (like dogs and horse)
Amphibians (like frogs and salamanders)
Fish (like cod and goldfish)
Reptiles (like lizards and turtles)
Once you've arranged them in evolutionary age, go to the next page to check your answers.
